Plannning your Asia Vacation
Before you go on an Asia vacation, it’s worth studying the places you want to visit. Asia is huge and there are many countries. So, the more you know about your destination, the more prepared you’ll be. Because there may be some challenges that could come up and the more you know about the region you’re going to visit the easier it’ll be to deal with them.
For many of us, going on a vacation means relaxation and adventure. And an Asia vacation can offer you this and more. So, it’s even more important to inform yourself about the countries you want to visit. Because adventures can be a lot of fun, there may also be some unforeseen situations that, with some local knowledge, can be solved much more easily.
Here are some tips I’ve learned over the years I’ve spent in Asia that make my life now easier. Follow them and you’ll have a great time on your Asia vacation.
- When you plan an Asia vacation, make sure you know what the climate is going to be. Asia is big and has many different climates. Here in Southeast Asia, it’s tropical. Around Christmas, it’s hot and dry with a breeze that makes it very comfortable. During the rainy season, anywhere between May and October, it’s hot and very humid. The rain cools the temperature down somewhat, but it also means that it’s very sticky. The evenings are balmy. Yet, during the day the sun is strong, so make sure you have enough sun block to prevent any nasty sun burns. If you’ve forgotten it, there are many shops where you can buy the usual brands you get at home.
- Drink plenty of water, even when you think you’re not thirsty. Your body fluids evaporate much more quickly in a hot country, and you don’t even have to sweat a lot. When you find yourself getting tired, try drinking some water, and your energy might pick up again. I myself drink a lot of water and avoid alcohol during the day. It makes me sleepy and dehydrated.
- In some places, the water is ok to drink, if you’re used to it. I would suggest you drink bottled water. Boiling the water will usually do the trick with bacteria, but do you know what else is in the water?
- Did you know that drinking the liquid of a coconut is like having a meal? Apparently the coconut has all the nutrition that you need. It’s a complete meal. It’s also very delicious, and a great snack if you feel a little peckish at the beach. Of course, I’m in no way a nutritionist, so…
- Not every place here in Asia suffers from malaria, yet we do have mosquitos. Some people react badly to the bites, so get your mosquito repellent out if you don’t want to suffer.
These few thoughts are common sense and common knowledge, yet how many people disregard them. Make sure you look after yourself on your Asia vacation and your Asia vacation will look after you.
